"This course provides a brief introduction to the field of family systems and healthcare. The focus of the course is to provide an understanding on how secure family relationships play a crucial role in healing processes. The emphasis of this course is on attachment science, reviewing theory, research and clinical, and financial implementations of attachment-based family and couple therapy in a medical setting.
The objectives for the course are that students: 1) understand how attachment relationships impact physical and mental health and medical treatment; 2) apply the Biopsychosocial-Spiritual model to the treatment and research of acute or chronic illnesses and the role of relationship interventions in health care holistic care approach; 3) become familiar with attachment-based couple and family interventions in cardiac care; 4) become familiar with attachment-based couple and family interventions for oncology patients; and 5) become familiar with the cost-effectiveness of attachment-based systemic interventions. Working effectively with multiple health care specialist"
